Suspension Test Rig

           

This compact 6-DOF Suspension Fatigue Test Rig has been developed together with the automotive industry. This machine can be used to perform complex and highly dynamic suspension and full vehicle chassis durability testing. It incorporates Moog FCS’ latest force loop control as well as new iteration strategies enabling you to reduce your set-up times, unlike existing systems.

Its revolutionary Hexapod technology is new to the Automotive Testing Industry, but has been Moog FCS’ core technology for over 20 years. It is clear this concept is the future for 6-DOF fatigue testing.


The system uses double sided, symmetrical hydrostatic actuators. These actuators are designed for low weight using carbon fibre reinforced aluminium bodies. The oversized hollow piston rods are made from titanium. The actuator incorporates position and differential pressure sensors that are used in the inner digital control loop of the actuator. The top platform, which incorporates the 6-DOF force/torque sensor has low mass and high rigidity so that natural frequencies are far above the desired operating frequency spectrum of the test specimen.
